  • Rural Trauma Symposium 2015

    Jun 11, 2015

Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services (RMCHCS), Gallup Indian Medical Center (GIMC) and Gallup Med Flight are hosting  a second annual  Regional Rural Trauma Symposium  on Thursday, June 11,  from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm and Friday, June 12, from 7:45 am to 3:45 pm to provide information on the latest innovative and evidence-based practices on the care of trauma patients and the management of trauma programs.

Over 250 physicians, nurses, emergency service personnel and other healthcare professionals are expected to attend to hear 14 speakers from a variety of trauma-related fields. Topics include pediatric and geriatric trauma, neurologic and head trauma, ranch and rodeo injuries, medical responses to sexual assault, EMS responses to trauma, preparing airway procedures, fluid resuscitation and how battlefield practices relate to rural trauma.

Niles McCall, RMCHCS Education Coordinator; Sandra Fouser, Trauma Coordinator at GIMC; Tiffany Mount and Roberta Hale from Gallup Med Flight, have been working with staff from GIMC to organize this symposium.  This cooperative venture benefits the community by helping improve knowledge and skill in trauma services so physicians, nurses,  emergency medical staff and other healthcare professionals are aware of the latest practices for trauma care.

There will be music entertainment during the reception and an outstanding dinner lecture by a leading neurosurgeon.
