Laboratory Assistant-PRN - Laboratory
Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the Laboratory Director, Chief Technologist and the medical direction of the Pathologist, the Laboratory Assistant performs phlebotomy, processes clinical laboratory specimens, and performs clerical and technical duties as outlined. Performs point-of-care testing at physician clinic, as scheduled. The Laboratory Assistant provides services involving a variety of basic to difficult techniques according to established methods and policies. The Laboratory Assistant maintains records of performance as defined in the laboratory’s policy and procedure manuals. Assists in orientation/training of new staff members as necessary .The Laboratory Assistant is qualified to perform procedures, including phlebotomy on the following age classifications: neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for completing all duties as assigned.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required

Experience:
One (1) year of clinical experience, including phlebotomy, preferred

Licensure & Certifications:
Phlebotomy Certification or training equivalent to certification preferred.
Current verification in Basic Life Support required. (If BLS verification is not current upon hire must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.
