RMCHCS’ pediatric department is made up of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses and other clinical staff who are committed to the health and well-being of all children. They serve as partners with parents to help optimize the child’s health development. Providers promote healthy foods and active lifestyles for patients and their families and take the time to get to know their patients to ensure that their needs are being met.

RMCHCS pediatric practice has a program called Healthy Parenting, Healthy Kids, which is funded by a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico. This program is geared for children ages of 0 – 5 who are at risk for childhood obesity. The program coordinator is a registered dietician who meets with parents and children and works with the family to address the individual child’s needs. If you think your child could benefit from this program, please discuss this with your child’s provider.
RMCHCS pediatric practice promotes reading to your child and is a participant in the national Reach out and Read Program, giving out free books to all children ages 6 months to 5 years old when they come in for their well-child visit.
