Since RMCHCS does not assume responsibility for a patient’s valuables, we recommend that valuables be sent home with a family member. However, in the event that this is not possible, RMCHCS’ security department will assist the patient in storing valuables during his/her hospital stay.
Once a provider has ordered a patient’s discharge, a nurse will provide written instructions for care at home. The nurse will review these documents with the patient and family before they leave the hospital. It is important that the patient and/or the family make sure they understand all the instructions before going home. Do not hesitate to ask for clarification of instructions, if needed.
If a patient and/or family member believe that discharge from the hospital is premature, please contact social services/case management at 505.863.6880.
