CODER - HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
The Coder responsible for accurate coding of all inpatient, and outpatient services, procedures, diagnoses and conditions, working from the appropriate documentation in the medical record. Classification systems include ICD-10-CM, CPT, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) as well as other specialty systems as required by diagnostic category. All work is carried out in accordance with the rules, regulations and coding conventions of the American Hospital Association (Coding Clinic), ICD-10-CM/PCS, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and AHIMA rules and regulation of for coding of all inpatient and/or outpatient records, daily completion of documents, reports and quality monitors. Reports to HIM Director.
High School diploma or equivalent required, as is a course in medical record technology, anatomy, or physiology. Associates and/or Bachelor's degree required.
Previous technical experience preferred. Must be a Credentialed by AHIMA, AAPC or other certified coding programs. Will accept a new graduate from a two or four year college program with strong skills in coding using ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT4 in accordance with DRG system and/or knowledge of DRG system preferred.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions and established procedures, and proficiency in data entry / 10-key.
RHIT, RHIT, OR CCS or the ability to set for any of the certifications within six months of hire.Additional Information Position Type : Full Time Shift : Day Contact Information
