RMCHCS Foundation
The RMCHCS Foundation was established in 1984 as the Western Health Foundation. It’s mission is to serve as goodwill ambassadors to the community and to support Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services in providing “Quality Health Care Close to Home.”
During its first decade, the Foundation raised funds to develop the region’s only comprehensive Behavioral Health Unit which continues to provide a broad range of treatment services for adults, adolescents and families with alcohol, drug and mental health problems. The Foundation was also instrumental in helping to purchase dialysis machines for the Gallup Dialysis Unit.
In the past decade, the RMCHCS Foundation has grown into an organization that conducts capital campaigns, an annual fundraiser, a direct mail program and planned giving program that enables donors to support the Foundation through wills, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts and an endowment program.
In 1995, the Foundation raised over $2.3 million to build a new emergency room, Intensive Care Unit and modern laboratory for RMCHCS. For the past seventeen years, the Foundation’s annual fundraiser, Charity Invitational, has raised over $4.5 million for new medical equipment, services and programs.
In 2003, the Foundation established a permanent endowment for retaining, recruiting and educating future health care professionals. The Foundation also continues to work on grant proposals that have supported a broad range of programs including Reach Out and Read, medical student rotations, diabetes prevention, health education and wellness.
